Today’s Think On This podcast comes from our conversation at the table about bad news.
The thing is . . . it’s important to put a self-imposed time-limit on watching, listening, and reading the news . . . and intentionally move our thoughts, emotions, and words out of the negative and dark realm of it all.
We need to be informed; however, it’s imperative to refuse to let it control who we are and what we do. I’m the first to say this is difficult to do.
TableThink will be releasing an ongoing article series this weekend with practical tools and techniques to move through this time in all of our lives.
Anyway . . .
Prayer changes the way we think, speak, and act.
Prayer connects us to God.
Prayer is an opportunity to effect change beyond our own life when we not only pray for ourselves but for others.
Pray one of the phrases and use it for the day . . . or when the bad news is too much take the time to pray it all . . .
You are the good of this day. I will trust and surrender it all to You.
Where there is worry . . . give wisdom.
Where there is fear . . . give faith.
Where there is unrest . . . give peace.
Where there is hurt . . . give healing.
Where there is lack . . . give enough.
Where there is frustration . . . give innovation.
Where there is darkness . . . give light.
Where there is bad news . . . give good.
Thank You. Amen (so be it).
LISTEN . . .
We live in a time when bad news is anticipated. Actually, bad news is a part of humanity’s history. The bad news can easily become a piece of our narrative, taking us down a negative and dark pathway.
The bad news can be rethought. Romans 12:2 says not to be conformed to the way the world thinks . . . but be transformed by the renewing of the mind.
There’s always an opposing good to the bad news.
We need to be constantly renewing our minds with the good of God.
