Think On This . . .
Sunday is TableThink’s day to intentionally do some soul work. The well of our soul is deep; however, busyness, pressure, and problems can be consuming and an obstacle to the health and wholeness in the depths of our soul.
As a pastor, I’ve sat and talked with dying people who have lived without knowing their purpose. I visited a man in the intensive care unit who seemed to have everything a person could ever want; however, he told me,
“I haven’t really lived yet.”
I asked him what he meant. He told me,
“I was supposed to be a pastor but I chose to be a business owner.”
I didn’t know exactly what to say to him. I wanted to encourage him without dismissing what he had said to me. In the end, I prayed he would receive God’s peace.
I believe he did.
His words stayed with me, giving me the chance to see the importance of engaging with our God-given purpose.
Take time to pray today: ”Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do. Use it for a purpose greater than myself.”
The thing is . . . we never need to settle for limited expectations. God has given the gift of purpose to us, far exceeding expectations, refuting “I can’t,” moving us to the precept, “I will.”
In other words, God will give you what’s needed to be and do what you’re destined to be and do.
