Vision: One Thing

168

I began putting away my Christmas joy-signs.  The thought repeatedly came to me:   “Don’t put away joy.  Count it all joy.”

These words go beyond the circumstance, revealing God is present and will walk us through whatever trials come our way.  (Underline the word, through.)

At the end of the day,  trials are not an ending but a beginning to what more of God has for us.

So. Regardless of the magnitude of the situation . . . count it all joy . . . for the opportunity to navigate life with God.

Listen . . .

Think On This . . .

Sometimes we want one thing to happen more than anything else  and find ourselves thinking about it all the time, begging God to make it happen.

The thing is . . . when we focus on one thing . . . with the belief our happiness rests on it . . . and that heartbreak is certain without it . . . we need to take time to surrender it all.  As hard as it is to believe, one thing does not need to define or determine the outcome of our life.

I’ve learned:  Regardless of how difficult it may be to live without the one thing . . .  and it seems that nothing will go the way it “should” without it . . . and it makes sense that everything will go wrong . . . and it feels impossible to go on without it . . . we can be certain God is working in our life doing something beyond what can be thought or imagined.

In other words, we can have confident hope in our not-yet.

Consider the words from Habakkuk 2:3 (NLT): “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.  It will not be delayed.”

Perspective . . .

” . . . count it all joy when you fall into various trialsc. . . ” (James 1:2 (NKV)).

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides” (James 1:2 (MSG)).
