It’s the weekend!

Taking a breath on the weekend, slowing down, and stepping back from the busyness of the week is smart living.   It takes effort and practice to make the weekend slow-down routine a part of life.  The thing is . . . as simple as it sounds . . . weekend slow-down serves our “why.”

One of the obstacles to the weekend slow-down is the lack of awareness of its overall healthy impact on every piece of life.    

 Thinking  through the things which lead to your best weekend slow-down generates motivation to make it happen. It’s helpful to use the specific elements to create a personalized weekend slow-down menu.

It takes intentional repetition weekend after weekend to develop the slow-down into a healthy life ritual.

Our sample slow-down menu includes:

  • Wake up without an alarm.
  • Plan a fun breakfast.
  • Read.
  • Sit in a comfortable place and relax.
  • Take a walk.
  • Get a massage.
  • Take interesting pictures.
  • Journal.
  • Plan a family activity.
  • Take a nap.
  • Play music.
  • Work out.
  • Light a candle.
  • Go to the movies.
  • Shop.
  • Take a trip for the day.
  • Work on a DIY project.
  • Play a board game.
  • Invite friends for dinner.
  • Generate a conversation about something that matters.

While there are a million things to do, one of our favorites from the slow-down menu is reading.  Because.  Reading is not only fun but an important piece of living.  At the end of the day, books are such good friends.
